Awful Bastard Award #2: Mary Harney
Mary Harney. I hate Harney with a vitriolic passion that is difficult to put into words. This horrible harridan is, in my opinion, one of the worst and most despicable of the mange-ridden curs that inhabit the halls of power in this country. It’s the hypocrisy, you see. All that shite about voting for the PD’s so they could keep an eye on Fianna Fail to make sure they weren’t being crooks? Yeah, good job Mary.
The cancer balls-up that she’s currently overseeing is awful beyond words, but she continues to squirm her greasy way out of it. Calls to resign? Ha? That vicious bitch will never resign. Never. It’s not in her nature to resign because it’s not in her nature to accept some modicum of responsibility for the pathetic mess that is our health service.
Now, I know that it’s not just Harney that’s responsible for the Irish Health Service being in such a shambles. Bock has explained one of the other issues here and that’s just one of them. However, Harney asked for the job of being the minister ‘responsible’ for Health and Children and talked tough about sorting things out. She was the woman for the job. She was going to get things on track. Allow me to begin to sum-up my debate argument by saying “bollocks”. She’s sorted arse-all, the great bint.
It may be straying into the realms of ad hominem argument if I go on to say that she appears to have been devouring here own body, yet paradoxically growing larger on it, for twenty years but I’m going to say it anyway. Her arsehole and her mouth now seem to be effectively the same thing. Bugger to ad hominem anyway.
If she resigns, I’ll eat one of her feet.
Hey Jimmy, jumped over here from Bocks. Well said, and in the current cancer crisis it’s fair mad to defend any politician, BUT I always had Harney as somehow, being on the side of the Angels. There are very few I’ve had time for, very few indeed and I have no allegiances at all. But herself and her predecessor in Health have my grudging respect. It’s a sad state of affairs when any of them who haven’t been caught with their hand in the till are deserving of my respect, and so far it appears that she’s avoided this. As I said on Bock, the calls for her resignation throw up a smoke screen, which stop us getting at the truth, the cancer within the HSE.
PS Great blog name.

Trousers, been meaning to leave a comment for a couple of weeks - it’s good to have you back. Politicians in every country are all ‘mange ridden curs’, but top marks for ranting. Also, I used to work at B&Q when I was a student, and you’re right, anyone there who is pleasant is either new or only a part-timer. I think the full-timers realise what an utter bollocks they’ve made of their lives that they have little option but to take it out on everyone who dares ask them for help. If I could help you with the splash-back thing I would, but don’t even know how to begin asking for it in Japanese.

Sniffle & Cry: Thanks for popping by. I think you’d get on well with Mrs. Jimmy Page’s Trousers who also seems to have some respect for Harney. Not me, I’m afraid. Any small bit of respect I might have had for her disappeared back in the 90’s during the Philip Sheedy and O’Flaherty thing. I found it incredibly arrogant of her to say it’d all blow over and that the electorate would forget their outrage in a few weeks. The fact they did is annoying but it was still bloody arrogant to say it.
Do pop by again. I don’t often go down the political ranting route.
Graeme: Good to hear from you again. Thanks for the confirmation on the B&Q thing. I suspected as much. I’ve seen it all over - bitter little people with chips on their shoulders who think they’re better than the job (all the time realising, deep down, that they’re not).
I suspect that if you sourced a ’splash-back’ in Japan I’d end up with something that shoots coloured water up your arse. If what I’ve seen on TV is true anyway, and why would I doubt TV? Any chance of any new posting over at Mr. Blunt’s?
