Google me
I’ve got a nice extension to the Wordpress software that runs this place. The extension allows me to indulge my insecurities by telling me how many people visited each day or week or whatever. And, by subtracting that number from six billion I can tell, approximately, how many people didn’t visit me on any given day.
Anyway, one of the other things it does is tell me where people visited from or where they were referred from. It seems that a number of people stumble across the place through Google (or other) web searches. As I can see what the person was originally searching for when they found me, some of them sometimes catch my attention. I thought I might share them. In no particular order then, here are some of the searches through which I was found in the last week or two.
Note: Because of my blog title, more than a few searches for the eponymous hero of our piece show up. It’s usually standard fare but I did like:
- Jimmy Page caught with cocaine.
- Jimmy Page pants price.
In non-Jimmy Page related searches however,
- Gay Byrne radio show theme tune.
- Drinking tea twinings everyday tea residue.
- Black scum inside kettle.
- Podge and Rodge situation.
- Inadequate men lyrics.
- I’m intrigued by the motives behind someone searching for Punishment Trousers.
- And, in a completely unrelated search (from a different country no less) Short Trouser Punishment. I feel I may be missing a new fetish to add to my collection of perversions.
Lastly, in the last fortnight, I’ve also had two separate people find me through searching for the words, Mika is shit.
Oh dear - the Mika is shit is my fault - glad I’ve upped your ratings but punishment trousers? The things some people search for!

The strangest I’ve gotten are Primal areas of the cow and good-looking bar staff required.
Okay, I know why they ended up with a link to me, but what were these folks really looking for (in the first instance) and what (in the second) kind of people are they?

Oh yes. I’ve subscribed and pop by every time you update. I think I’ve only de-lurked once though. Think of me as the strong, silent type or possibly the weird, slinking, skulking type. Probably the latter.

I am slightly curious as to why you might be searching for ‘Mika is shit’ though. If you know he’s shit (and it’s obvious you do), why search for that? Looking for like-minded souls? Were there lots of hits?

Thanks for the reply! I was searching in desperate need for somewhere to vent my thoughts on him. I am stuck with listening to BBC Radio 2 at work all day and his “song” seems to come on at various times throughout the day, and each time it comes on I feel the need to search for other fellow like-minded people to read their thoughts on Mika and comment on them.
This blog was #1 on Google for the “mika is shit” search term, but today - NO! A Bebo.com profile, nicely named “anti-mika”. Not much of a fan of Bebo.com myself, but I may just add him as “a friend” on my ancient profile for the sake of it.
Luckily, in the time its taken me to write all of that, the Mika song on the radio has ended and Terry Wogan’s voice has taken over. Thank goodness. Hopefully Radio 2 will change their pre-set-soundtrack very soon, excluding Mika all together. We can only hope!

I feel for you Daze. You can be sure, though, that, should Radio 2 change their playlist, Mika will just be replaced by something equally shite. I know it may be hard to imagine that something equally shite will ever exist but consider that James Blunt hasn’t had a single in a while. It could be time…
I’ve never Beboed but I don’t mind my number one Google spot being taken by ‘anti-mika’. I’m ok with that.

Never guess what…
Radio 2 are now doing an interview with the guy! Unbelievable! I can’t quite hear the radio, luckily, the reception here is poor (again - luckily), but do you think he always talks in that horrible squeaky voice that sounds like he hasn’t hit puberty yet? I do hope not, for the sanity of anyone he talks to.
I can honestly say that James Blunt, by the way, is no where near as bad as Mika. Bad, yes, but not on par with Mika.
… While I type I can hear parts of, what I think is, his album. My God. And, from what I can hear, its actually worse than the single he’s got out at the moment. He sounds like a bunch of school kids - the weird type.
